Benton Wood is a well-established community in Matthews, NC, known for its large homes, mature trees, and peaceful streets. Homeowners here take pride in their properties, and many invest in exterior maintenance to preserve curb appeal and value.
This homeowner reached out to us to address rotting window trim, damaged soffits, deteriorated deck boards, and faded siding paint. Our approach prioritized both restoration and longevity—with upgraded materials and professional finishes from trusted brands like Sherwin-Williams.

Here’s a breakdown of the project scope:
• Removal of rotted wood on window trim, soffits, and siding
• Replacement of compressed board siding with cement board (Masonite)
• Full replacement of split and failing deck boards
• Caulking, sealing, and prepping all exterior surfaces
• Painting of windows, trim, siding, and soffits
• Deck staining using Sherwin-Williams DuckBack 9600 Series
This was a full-scope exterior refresh that brought both structural integrity and fresh aesthetic appeal to the home.

The first step was addressing the most urgent structural issues—rotted trim and siding. Many original components were made of compressed fiberboard, which over time had absorbed moisture and started to deteriorate.
We removed all failing wood on the:
• Window sills and trim
• Door casings
• Fascia and soffit sections
• Deck boards
Where possible, we rebuilt with cement board siding (Masonite), which resists moisture and holds paint much better than standard fiberboard. For the deck, we replaced all split boards with kiln-dried wood, allowing for an even and durable stain finish later.

The rear deck had visible signs of wear—faded boards, surface cracks, and splintering edges. After replacing the worst boards with fresh lumber, we sanded, prepped, and stained the entire surface.
We used Sherwin-Williams DuckBack 9600 Series, a premium deck stain known for:
• Deep, uniform color penetration
• Water and UV resistance
• Anti-slip finish and long-term durability
Now, the deck not only looks refreshed but also performs well against sun and rain exposure in this shaded yard.

Once carpentry was complete, we moved into the painting phase. Our crew caulked all seams, repaired hairline cracks, and applied Sherwin-Williams SuperPaint on:
• Window trim
• Fascia and soffits
• Replaced siding sections
• Entry doors and casings
SuperPaint Exterior delivers long-lasting performance with excellent color retention and weather resistance—ideal for the North Carolina climate.
We matched the original color palette for consistency, while giving the home a much-needed refresh and sealing all surfaces for protection.

The result of this multi-faceted project is a property that feels brand new without the cost of full siding replacement or decking rebuild. The updated materials provide peace of mind and curb appeal that fits right in with the charm of the Benton Wood neighborhood.
From the front windows to the back deck, everything now looks cleaner, sharper, and more cohesive. It’s the kind of project that quietly boosts home value while solving long-term maintenance issues.
